Vicicongo line

Welle trains ( CFU) is the name of a narrow-gauge railway line in the north- east of the Democratic Republic of Congo and their operating company. The line runs from Port Congo Bumba in Mongala by low - Uele after Mungbere in Upper Uele with branch lines to Bondo, Buta Titule and city.

Route

The long depending on the source 1011 or 1026 km narrow gauge track with a gauge of 600 mm follows the third degree of latitude. History

The Uele webs were built in 1924-1937 by a Belgian company. The first line ran from Aketi to Bondo and was built from the material German army stocks, which acquired the Belgians after World War II low of liquidation stocks of Army railways. Later, the train was from Komba by Buta, Pauli (today Isiro ) and Mungbere extended, which was achieved in 1937. An expansion to the gold mines of Moto, however, was omitted. In Aketi on Itimbiri is following the river navigation; because its water level but may be only 40 cm, 1971 a connection was built to the Congo. The line was but the beginning of the 2000s, the last time traveled continuously from one train. Operator

Today the Uele - paths ( CFU) are part of the Congolese state-owned enterprises. They were managed by the Ministry of the portfolio. On 23 December 2010 the company was directed to a corporation named railway company Uele - Strom AG (meaning the Congo ) converted. The share capital amounts to 1 Congo francs ( $ 0001 ) and the only shareholder is the Democratic Republic of Congo.
