Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti ( born October 6, 1920 in Milan, † September 19, 2006 ) was an Italian architect and industrial designer.

Life

Magistretti worked after his studies in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic from 1945 known initially as an architect; from the 1960s as an industrial designer. His designs were produced by companies such as Asko, Artemide, Cassina and Rosenthal. He became known for his sofa " Maralunga " as well as the chair " Carimate ", which is a symbol of "Swinging London ". For his lamp " Atollo " he was awarded the 1979 Compasso d' Oro. Some of his designs are exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
