Vico Torriani
Vico Torriani ( born September 21, 1920 in Geneva, † 26 February 1998 in Agno (Canton Ticino); actually Ludovico oxens Torriani ) was a Swiss pop singer, actor, show host and cookbook author.
Life
Torriani was born the son of a riding and ski instructor and grew up in St. Moritz. After school he studied pastry chef and later a waiter. Even as a 15 - year-old he gave private concerts. Later he worked as an independent restaurateur, including in Basel, and made himself as an author of cookbooks a name.
In 1945 he won in a talent competition and then hoofed it all over Europe. In 1949 he had his first hit silver threads in Switzerland. In 1951, the first major success came in Germany with Addio, donna grazia. Then Torriani made numerous records with hits on in different languages. In 1952, he appeared on television. He was first in Switzerland and later in Germany own shows, such as " Welcome, Vico ", "Hotel Victoria " and the " Vico Torriani - show " in which occurred numerous guest stars.
In the 1950s, he appeared as an actor in numerous films and music also appeared in theaters. In 1995 he received a Bambi "Lifetime Award" along with Caterina Valente and Helmut Zacharias.
Private
In the years 1978-1983 Vico Torriani led the restaurant "Bonne Auberge " on Spalenring in Basel. Torriani's wife Evelyne Torriani - Guntert ( born June 17, 1930; † 28 April 2010) was born in Basel. The couple had two children, Nicole and Reto. Torriani died in 1998 from cancer. His urn grave is located in the main cemetery in Lugano.
