Victor Bodson

Victor Bodson ( born March 24, 1902 in Luxembourg, † June 29, 1984 in Bad Mondorf ) was a Luxembourgian politician (LSAP ).

From 1940 to 1947, again from 1951 to 1959 he was Luxembourg traffic and Minister of Justice. From 1964 to 1967 he led the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies as president. In 1967 he was sent by the Government of the Grand Duchy in the European Commission. In the Commission Rey he was then appointed by President Jean Rey as Commissioner for Transport. As the term of office of the Commission in 1970 ended, Albert Coppé new Transport Commissioner, Borschette was new was asked by Commissioner Luxembourg.

Rescue Persecuted Jews

During the Second World War Bodson rescued about 100 Jews from the Holocaust. He set his house in Steinheim on the German -Luxembourg border as a stopover an escape route for Jews from Germany. The refugees who had swum across the Sauer, were supplied in his house and distributed by Bodson to safe hiding places.

Due to his efforts Victor Bodson was honored in 1971 than previously only Luxembourg Yad Vashem as Righteous Among the Nations.
