Víctor Fernández

Víctor Fernández Braulio ( born November 28, 1960 in Zaragoza ) is a Spanish football coach.

Coaching career

The beginnings

As a player, Fernández was in Zaragoza División Stadium in Casablanca in a regional league and in CD Sariñena in the Tercera active as a center forward. He spent two years as a youth coach at Stadium Casablanca and made in 1988 as valedictorian, the Spanish coach exam. He worked until 1990 as the second coach Radomir Antic at Real Zaragoza before 1990, the B- team of the club, Deportivo Aragón solely responsible took over. After the dismissal of Ildo Maneiro as coach of the first team initially took over the transitional as coach at Real Zaragoza. Due to the successes achieved by the then still very young coach, took his position at Zaragoza ultimately six years in which his team, among others, the Copa del Rey (1994 ) and won the European Cup Winners' Cup.

More Stations

His next coach station was CD Tenerife, he but left again after only 10 games. It was followed by four years in Galicia at Celta Vigo. In the years 2002 to 2004 he coached the Andalucian tradition team of Real Betis. From 2004/2005 a commitment was followed by the Portuguese top club FC Porto as his successor by the internationally renowned José Mourinho after his move to Chelsea. Half a year only should his stay in the Portuguese football last was released to Fernández at the Portuguese. He then took over the vacant coaching job with his hometown club Real Zaragoza. In 2006, he reached with his team the final of the Copa del Rey, as a remarkable sixth place in the season 2006/2007.

Despite all of this he was ( leaving in Copa del Rey and UEFA Cup ) and a weak mid-table released in January 2008 and replaced by Ander Garitano after a disappointing season so far.
