Víctor Núñez

Víctor Núñez Rodríguez ( born April 15, 1980 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), nicknamed El Mambo, is a Costa Rican football player.

Víctor Núñez grew up in the Dominican Republic, but came up with twelve years to Costa Rica when his mother married a local. There he played in the football clubs up until he had his first professional game for Goicoechea 1998. As an outstanding striker since he plays in the first Costa Rican League and was among others the big four clubs, including Deportivo Saprissa and LD Alajuelense under contract. Several times he was league top scorer. Most recently, he played for CS Herediano.

Several times he got the offer to play for the national team in the Dominican Republic, but decided in 2003 for the Costa Rican citizenship. Then he came in 2005 to his first two appearances for the national team of Costa Rica and is even in the World Cup squad Costa Rica for the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany. He will thus be the first native Dominicans at a World Cup.

Since 17 November 2013, is the leading scorer Primera División de Costa Rica, four days before he reached the 196 goals from Errol Daniels.
