Vier Frauen und ein Todesfall

Four Women and a Funeral is an Austrian crime series which was first broadcast in 2005 in the ORF. In Switzerland, the series runs at SF 1, since the autumn of 2008 she RTL Crime. In ARTE, the series was also aired french synchronized. The series has been sold but also to Slovenia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, and Ukraine and Russia.

Background & action

Three different directors have in the first season some quite different things. Constant are the rural milieu (Salzkammergut, Mondsee Land) and the main characters: Four women of different ages, the ' funeral wives ' who meet after each death in the fictional village Ilm at the funeral and with the saying " I think net, that of a casualty was! " develop their own theories on the death of the person concerned.   • The name of the fictional town " village Ilm " was derived from the Austrian film production company Dor Film.
  • From the fourth season Toni Steiger is no longer a postman, but a police officer. This alludes to the fact that 2009/2010 many postal officials of the exchange was offered to the police in Austria to remove the "real" police internal service activities.
  • In the first episode of season 4, the Bavarian cabaret artist Monika Gruber has a guest appearance.
  • In the second episode of season 4, there are many allusions to the corruption scandal of Ernst Strasser. Strasser was an Austrian MEP and was filmed in 2011 during the " cash-for- Laws " investigation, when he accepted an offer from two lobbyists (played by British reporters ); after investigation, this video was released. Towards the end of this episode is alluded to in great detail on this video. The Mayor Mitzi Nothdurfter is submitted an offer; thereby they will be filmed in the same camera angle as Ernst Strasser.
