Vieta (crater)

Vieta is an impact crater on the western edge of the lunar front side, west of the Mare Humorum, northwest of Fourier and south of Henry. The heavily eroded crater has especially in the south traces of extensive landslides, north of the crater wall is partially leveled.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the French mathematician François Viète.
