Vietnam Day Committee

The Vietnam Day Committee ( VDC) in Berkeley (California ) arose out of the " Vietnam Day", the 35-hour anti-Vietnam War teach-in which about 35,000 people on 21 and 22 May 1965 the campus University of California brought.

Immediately after the " Vietnam Day", the members of the VDC met put notice the following priorities for the peace movement:

  • National and international solidarity and coordination of activities.
  • Militant actions, including civil disobedience.
  • Extensive work in the community to develop a grass-roots opposition outside the university campus and to benefit from the militancy of direct action.

In late May 1965, the VDC laid the 15 and 16 October 1965 as date for the " International Days of Protest Against American Military Intervention" fixed and sent a request for support in the whole world.
