Vietnam Football Federation

The Vietnam Football Federation ( Liên Đoàn Bong Da Việt Nam ( VFF ) ) is the Football Association in Vietnam. The Association, founded in 1962 is both a member of FIFA and the AFC since 1964. The association is part of the Goal project by FIFA and the AFC Vision Asia project of the Association.

History

Due to the colonization of Vietnam and the Vietnam War, the football took a different development in the country. The football came in 1896 to what was then Cochinchina. By the early 20th century, the predecessor of today's Association, the Vietnamese Department of Football was founded. Added to this was the Department of French football. In 1960, the Vietnam Football Association was founded in the north of the country. The first president was the former football star Hà Đằng An. In the south of the country is also an association was founded. The national team of the Republic of Vietnam was one of the best on the continent at that time. The greatest successes were in each case a fourth place in the AFC Cup in 1956 and 1960. Was founded in 1989 in the wake of Đổi mới reforms of the association under the name Vietnam Football Federation new. From 1976 to 1989, the association had participated more in any international competition. Friendship Games were held only against communist countries also. After the victory in the ASEAN Football Championship 2008, the 2010 competition was held in Indonesia and Vietnam. As co-host of the Vietnamese team reached the semi-finals, where they lost the subsequent ASEAN champions Malaysia 0-2.

Vietnamese Championship

Main article: V-League

The football championship in Vietnam is the most important national title. The master of men is played in a national championship since 1980. First Master was Tong cuc Duong sat. Master record is won The Cong with five titles. Current title holder is the club Bình Dương Becamex. Currently 14 teams taking part in the first league. There are three seniors leagues for men in Vietnam. The Women's Championship has been held since 2001. Reigning champion and record winner is the team of Ha Noi. The Championship will be wearing with a total of six teams.

Vietnamese Cup

The Vietnamese Cup is the oldest cup competition in Vietnam and has been held since 1992. The competition is organized annually by the VFF and after winning the championship of the most important titles in the national club football. The winner is determined according to the knockout system. First winner of the cup competition was the FC Thành Pho Hồ Chí Minh. Titleholder is the current second division Ha Noi ACB. The winner automatically qualifies for the AFC Cup.

Vietnamese Supercup

The Vietnamese Supercup held since 1999. In this competition, the reigning champion and cup winner occur in only one game against each other. Acting Cup winners Bình Dương is Becamex.

VTV T & T Cup

Main article: VTV - T & T Cup

The VTV - T & T Cup invitational tournament for national teams of the gentlemen of the National Association VFF. It held ill each year in Mỹ Đình - National Stadium. For the first time in 2004. Actual winners of the tournaments is the Thai national team.

Thanh Nien Cup

The Thanh Nien Cup was created in collaboration with the newspaper Thanh Nien. It is invitational tournament for U- 21 national teams of men. But the actual fighting is since 2007. Actual winner is the U -21 national team of Iran.

National Futsal Championship

The National Futsal Championship for Men was held for the first time in 2009. The Championship will be held with a total of nine teams. In this case, each club plays once each against each other. Champion of the first season was Thái Sơn Nam.

International Competitions

Successes in World Cups

To date, the Vietnamese men's team and the women's team was never able to qualify for a World Cup.

Success at the Olympic Games

To date, the Vietnamese U -23 men's team and the U -23 women was never able to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Success in Asian Cup

The Vietnamese Association took far only three times participate in the Asian Championships with his men's team. In this case, enter 1956 and 1960 respectively a fourth place. The success scored by the though of the South Vietnamese football team. First time in 2007 succeeded in participating as general association in the finals. There the quarter-finals could be achieved. The women's team qualified for every tournament since 1999, but never got beyond the first round also.

The women's team has 3 gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games so far the most successful after the Thai national football team of women.
