The VGU took in the winter semester 2008 offering courses: 35 students enrolled for a course of study "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology " ( EEIT ). The students of this cohort received their bachelor's certificates in October 2012. Currently (November 2012) provides the VGU two bachelor's degree programs, six master's degree programs and one doctoral program.

Relevant departments support our University by a nonprofit sponsoring organization, the Konsortialverein, consisting of more than 30 German universities. The TU9, an association of the nine leading technical universities in Germany, a member of the sponsoring organization. This was formally established in February 2009. He represents the interface between the VGU and the German partner universities

The development of the University was further advanced by the constitution of the University Council in February 2010. Even in their academic development, the Vietnamese - German University has made progress: her first research center that opened "Vietnamese - German Transport Research Centre " was established in March 2010. This is part of the proposed constitution of a higher-level, interdisciplinary research institution. In the coming years, the " Research Centre for High- Tech Engineering and Sustainability" is to be built. Be subordinated to this five research centers that meet the needs of the Vietnamese development in their field. As research areas have been identified: Traffic, Transportation, Mobility and Logistics; Renewable Energy Technologies, Lightning Technologies; Water Technologies and Water Resource Management; Sustainable Urban Development; " Green" Technologies and Resource Management, Biodiversity / Climate Change, Biotechnology. The " Research Centre for High- Tech Engineering and Sustainability" will be built on the new campus of the VGU in Binh Duong province. As the first component of this interdisciplinary research center was founded in 2010, the VGTRC - Vietnamese German Transport Research Centre in Thu Duc, about 4 km from the current campus of VGU opened.

Study

The Vietnamese - German University is modeled on the lines of the German technical universities. In its range of courses and research projects it focuses on engineering, science and economics degree programs.

Studies from Germany

In a transition phase, VGU imported German courses to Vietnam. These are carried out in cooperation with the German partner universities. Offers bachelor's and master's programs and one doctoral program. The students receive in this transitional phase after studying a German degree and a degree of VGU.
