Vignogn

Vignogn ( [ viɲɔɲ ]? / I, and German until 1983 officially Vigens ) was until December 31, 2012, a municipality in the district Damphreux in the district Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

On January 1, 2013, it merged with the municipalities Cumbel, cutlasses, Lumbrein, Morissen, Suraua, Vella and Vrin the new community Lumnezia.

History

Vignun was in the early Middle Ages, a royal estate and the High Middle Ages seat of the Ministerialen de Viggun, from which the name of the village derives. 1538 bought the inhabitants go from bishopric of Chur.

Geography

The scattered village is a hillside community on the eastern slopes of the Piz Sezner ( 2309 m above sea level. M. ) and ranges from this down to Glenner (920 m above sea level. M. ). In addition to the village there are several farmsteads.

From all over the former municipality of 791 ha 247 ha is forest and 68 ha Mountains. In addition to 21 ha settlement area there are 455 ha of arable soil. Among 331 ha are cultivated as mountain pastures.

Population

The main language for 89 % of the population is Romansh, 10 % said to speak better German. All of the end of 2004 187 inhabitants were Swiss nationals.

Parish council

The former council consists of five members. The former mayor is George Derungs (as of 2010 ).

Traffic

The former church is through the postal bus lines Ilanz - Vrin and Ilanz - Vignogn connected to the network of public transport.

Education

The kindergarten and the first two classes visit the children of Vignogn in Vella. From the 3rd to the 6th grade classes are held in Cuschnaus (municipality Morissen ). Then it goes for the school years 7-9 back to Vella in the upper center Lumnezia. School language is Romansh ( Idiom Sursilvan ) at the secondary school also German.
