Viirelaid

Viirelaid ( German name: Paternoster ) is an Estonian island in the Baltic Sea south-east of the island Muhu (poppy ).
The area of the island is 81 hectares. It is up to 4.5 m above sea level and is very flat. The island served in the past as a reference point for sea. She showed the coming of the south ships the way to Väinameri.
On the island there is a lighthouse built in 1881 ( renovated 2002 ). The timber according to the 1857 built, 11 -meter high tower is probably the oldest surviving metal tower Estonia.
