Vija Artmane

Vija Artmane, actually Alida Artmane, ( born August 21, 1929 in Kaive, Tukums, Latvia, † 11 October, 2008 Strenči ) was a Latvian and Soviet actress.

Life

Alida Artmane was born the daughter of Franz Artmann, a German Balts, and Anna Zaborowska, a Polish woman, the Latvian Kaive to the world. She studied from 1946 to 1949 at the second studio of the Riga Daile Theatre under Edward Smiļģis. Artmane remained faithful to this stage as an actress until 1998, and was here to see, among others, as Eliza Doolittle in George Bernard Shaw Pygmalion. From 1998 to 2000 it belonged to the ensemble of the New Riga Theatre.

Artmane gave her film debut in 1957 in schtorma Posle. Her breakthrough as a film actress, she experienced in 1964 as the actress Sonja in Mikhail Jerschows consanguinity. It was followed by numerous feature films of science fiction ( Tumannost Andromedy ) to the Adventure ranged ( The Arrows of Robin Hood ). In 1980 appeared with Rasgowor s korolewoi a film portrait of Artmane. Vija Artmane published 2004 Ziemcieši. Mirkļi no manas Dzives her biography. She died 2008 and was buried at the Pokrovsky Cemetery in Riga.
