Vijnanabhiksu

Vijnanabhikshu ( Sanskrit: विज्ञानभिक्षु Vijñānabhikṣu ) was an Indian Samnyasin from the area of ​​Varanasi, who lived in the second half of the 16th century. He wrote several works on various Indian educational systems, especially for Vedanta, Yoga and Samkhya and tried these three lessons in a " non- dualism nichtunterscheidbaren " ( avibhagādvaita ) to unite, where he always laid emphasis on theistic and mystical thoughts.

Works

His major works include Vijñānāmṛtabhāṣya, a commentary on the Brahmasūtra, a fundamental work on the Vedanta. Yogavārttika is the longest Subkommentar to Yogasūtrabhāṣya of Vyasa and he is, though written relatively late, an important work that contributes to the understanding of yoga. From Vijnanabhikshu also dates back to the small business Yogasārasaṃgraha, which also dealt with the Yoga of Patanjali.

Sāṃkhyapravacanabhāṣya is considered the most important commentary on Samkhyalehre, where Vijnanabhikshu believes that the Samkhya seie only reason atheistic designed to develop indifference, against the desire to attain divine dignity.
