Viktor Madarász

Viktor Madarász ( born December 14, 1830 in Csetnek; † January 10, 1917 in Budapest) was a Hungarian Romantic painter.

He was a soldier and a lieutenant in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 / 1849. Later, he lived in exile from 1853 to 1856 and studied painting in Vienna and together with Léon Cogniet in Paris. The years 1856 to 1870 in Paris were his most productive and successful. He painted mainly subjects from Hungarian history.
