Vilho Tuulos

Vilho Tuulos ( Vilho Immanuel Tuulos; born March 26, 1895 in Tampere, † September 2, 1967 ) was a Finnish athlete.

On July 20, 1919, he presented in Tampere with 15.30 meters a European record in the triple jump on, and on July 6, 1923, he raised him in Borås to 15.48 meters. This record was surpassed in 1939 by the Norwegian Kaare flow around an inch.

At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp Tuulos won the competition in the triple jump with 14.50 meters. He had a lead of two centimeters on the Sweden Folke Jansson. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 Tuulos was 7.07 meters fourth in the long jump. In the triple jump with 15.37 meters, he won bronze.

Four years later at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam, he won with 15.11 meters in the triple jump bronze again. In the long jump he missed with 7.11 meters in eleventh qualifying the final. Curiously, jumped into this qualification, three Olympic gold medalist 7.11 meters - next Tuulos also the triple jump winner of 1928 Mikio Oda and the long jump winner of 1924 DeHart Hubbard.

Vilho Tuulos was 1.83 m tall and weighed 77 kg in his playing days.
