Villeneuve-les-Sablons

Villeneuve- les -Sablons is a commune with 1288 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Oise in the Picardie region.

Geography

The village is located at the RD 923 and RD 5 ( old royal road from Pontoise to Beauvais ). Small forested hills surround the village with an area 443 hectares, including 25 hectares of forest area included.

History

The village was founded around 1195 as a result of an agreement between the French king Philippe Auguste and the abbot of the monastery Saint Mellon of Pontoise. The agreement included to clear a part of the forest of Hénonville, in order to build a village.
