Village center of Orsonnens

Villorsonnens is a municipality in the district of the canton of Fribourg Glane in Switzerland. It was created on 1 January 2001 by the merger of four previously independent municipalities Chavannes -sous- Orsonnens, Orsonnens, Villargiroud and Villarsiviriaux.

Geography

Villorsonnens located 6 km east-northeast of the district main town Romont (air line). The municipality extends to the Molasseplateau at the northern foot of the hill chain of Mont Marly, south of Glânetals, in Fribourg plateau.

The area of ​​15.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molassehöhen of Fribourg Mittelland. The northern boundary runs along the middle reaches of the Glane, which flows through an up to 500 m wide, flat Talniederung here. From here, the communal land extends southward over the Bois Mottau and the hill of Le VUSY (709 m above sea level. M. ) in the floodplains of the Neirigue. South of this river course extends the area on the plateau of Orsonnens that in the southwest of Bois de Saugy (up to 870 m above sea level. M. ), is bounded on the north-east of the Bois de Vernex. The southernmost part of the municipality is located in the catchment area of the stream Glèbe with his left Bach Ruisseau du Guelbe. It comprises the partly forested, partly lined with willows north slope of Marly, which is divided by the headwaters of the Glèbe in different valleys and projections ( including the forest of La Joux ). The highest point of 1,204 m above sea level with Villorsonnens is. M. reached on the top of Marly, on whose crest runs the southern border. From the municipality surface 1997 accounted for 5% on settlements, 28 % of forest and shrubs, 66% to agriculture and slightly less than 1% was unproductive land.

The municipality comprises the villages Villorsonnens Chavannes -sous- Orsonnens (656 m above sea level. M. ) in the Valley of Neirigue, Orsonnens ( 699 m above sea level. M. ) on a plateau southeast of the Neirigue, Villargiroud ( 787 m above sea level. M. ) and Villarsiviriaux ( 833 m above sea level. M. ) at the northern foot of Marly. In addition, include the hamlet of Grange- la- Battiaz ( 685 m above sea level. M. ) in Glânetal, La Fortune ( 688 m above sea level. M. ) at the level of the west Neirigue, Le Moulin (660 m above sea level. M. ) on the Neirigue and verse -le- Moulin ( 642 m above sea level. M. ) above the mouth of the Neirigue in the Glane and some Hofsiedlungen and individual farms to Villorsonnens. Neighboring communities of Villorsonnens are Villaz -Saint -Pierre, La Folliaz, Chénens, Autigny, Le Glèbe, Soren, Le Châtelard and Massonnens.

Population

With 1310 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Villorsonnens belongs to the medium-sized municipalities in the canton of Fribourg. Of the 92.6% inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 2.7 % and 1.7 % speak Portuguese (as of 2000). The population of Villorsonnens amounted in 1900 to 1140 inhabitants. During the first half of the 20th century, the population increased slowly and reached 1940 inhabitants in 1277 to the highest level. Thereafter, a decline of about 35 % to 815 persons was observed by high migration to 1980. Only since a significant population growth was recorded again.

Economy

Villorsonnens was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the dairy industry, animal husbandry and agriculture have a certain role in the occupational structure of the population. More jobs are available in the local small businesses and especially in the service sector. In recent decades, Villorsonnens has also developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions Romont and Freiburg.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares on a road from Villaz -Saint- Pierre to Vuisternens -en- Ogoz. By Bus Transports Publics Fribourgeois, which runs from Romont after Farvagny, the villages of Villorsonnens are connected to the public transport network.

History

Since the Middle Ages, the municipality of Villorsonnens was under the influence area of ​​the rule Pont -en- Ogoz, where Orsonnens, Chavannes -sous- Orsonnens and Villargiroud formed three small dominions. Towards the end of the 15th century, the villages gradually came under the rule of Freiburg and the Bailiwick of Pont- Farvagny were allocated. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) belonged to the territory of Villorsonnens during the Helvetic Republic until 1803 Romont district, then the district Farvagny and was incorporated with the new cantonal constitution in 1848 in the District Glane.

As part of the canton of Fribourg funded since 2000 municipal mergers villages Chavannes -sous- Orsonnens, Orsonnens, Villargiroud and Villarsiviriaux were merged with effect from 1 January 2001. The newly created municipality was given the name of art Villorsonnens.
