Vilnius St. Joseph Seminary
The seminary Vilnius (Lithuanian Vilniaus Šv. Juozapo kunigų seminarija ) is a Catholic seminary in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, the second oldest university in Lithuania. The study lasts 6 years and begins with the preparatory preparation course. At the seminar, the seminarians study from the Archdiocese of Vilnius.
History
The seminar was founded in 1582 by Bishop Jurgis Radvilos. It initiated Jesuits. The seminar worked 1582-1654/1661 (?), 1722-1915/1918 (?), 1920-1942, 1943-1945. In July 1993, it was founded by Metropolitan Audrys Juozas Backis again. Since 1998, the seminar is called St. Joseph.
