Vinczé von Borbás

Vincze ( born 28 July 1844 in Ipoly Litke, Hungary, † July 7, 1905 in Cluj ) of Borbás was a Hungarian botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Borbás ".

Life and work

He named several hundred plant species as new to science. Of these described " species ", however most of it is not accepted by today's taxonomists as a distinct species.

Honors

According to him, several plant species have been named, including the trefoil Lotus borbasii and the Madder family Asperula borbasiana. The magazines Borbasia ( 1938-1940 ) and Borbasia Nova ( 1940-1949 published ) have been named in his honor.
