Vindeln Municipality
Vindeln is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historic province of Västerbotten. The main town of the municipality is Vindeln. Through the community lead the European Route 12, the regional road 363 and the railway line Ånge - floor ( Norra stambanan ).
Geography
The municipality is located in the foothills of the Scandinavian Mountains and is characterized by the partial deep valleys of the rivers Ume älv and Vindelälven. The Vindelälven that is completely natural, has a number of powerful rapids.
From Åmsele after Vindeln leads the Isälvleden, a 60 km long walking path along the Vindelälven. Along the way there are several cabins for overnight stays.
Economy
Forestry and wood processing industry are the main industries.
Attractions
In Mårdsele, 64 kilometers northwest of the capital are the rapids Mårdseleforsen. At a length of two kilometers of Vindelälven has a gradient of 17 meters above sea level. Narrow passages alternate with wider, in which there are numerous islands. The area is easily accessible and the Islands in the Stream are connected with small bridges. The rapids are also excellent fishing spots ( especially for salmon, grayling and trout).
