Vipnet is a telecommunications company that operates the mobile networks in Croatia. The company is a 100 percent subsidiary of Telekom Austria Group, the Central and Eastern Europe is active in eight countries. Vipnet in Croatia is in competition with candy, T -Mobile Hrvatska, Tele2 and Tomato.
History
Vipnet was founded by Boris NEMSIC, former Director General of mobilkom austria AG. The company received the license in September 1998 and launched in July 1999 with the operating business. Vipnet was the first private GSM operator in Croatia and has since become a major business enterprise in that State.
By 2010 Vipnet was run as a 100 percent subsidiary of mobilkom austria AG. On 8 July 2010, mobilkom austria AG was merged into Telekom Austria TA AG. As part of this merger, the non-Austrian subsidiary of mobilkom austria AG Telekom Austria Group was assumed. Therefore Vipnet is since 2010 a 100 percent subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group.
Business
The company was early 2007, about 1.91 million customers. The end of 2007 the market share was 43.2 percent and rose to the beginning of 2010 according to own data to 43.7 percent. Vipnet making it the second largest mobile operator in Croatia.
Vipnet has the most developed network of Croatia and was the first operator in Croatia, GPRS introduced.
Cooperations
The company cooperates as other subsidiaries of the Telekom Austria Group with Vodafone. In addition, the Croatian provider of prepaid tariffs Tomato uses the power of Vipnet.
