Vippetangen

Vippetangen is the name of the southern tip of a peninsula and an investor in the harbor of the Norwegian capital Oslo. It is located southeast of the Akershus Fortress. The name derives from a Vippefyr, a mobile beacon which should have been on the tip of the promontory. By the early 20th century it was a public bathing place.

The modern quays originated from 1899. They included the fishing port town with fish processing and cold storage warehouses, as well as the investor for the transatlantic liner, the so-called " Amerikabåtene ". From the large grain silo is also located there led a specially constructed cargo tram, called the Korntrikk (grain tram ) ' to a mill operating in Grünerløkka. Today, located on the Vippetangen the quays for the ferries to Copenhagen and investors for the island ferries to the islands of the inner Oslo fjord.
