Virtual Private LAN Service

Virtual Private LAN Service ( VPLS ) is used to connect local area networks over WANs. This service is a Layer 2 service, which is based on MPLS. It allows Ethernet-based multipoint connections over MPLS networks. The MPLS network is used as a pure, transparent transport network (T- MPLS), which is why one speaks over Ethernet and T- MPLS.
