Visanthe Shiancoe ( born June 18, 1980 in Birmingham) is an American professional American football player at the position of tight ends. He played for the New England Patriots in the National Football League ( NFL).

Career

College career

Visanthe Shiancoe played college football at Morgan State University. In 30 games he scored 52 caught passes and 1001 yards space gain. In his final season, he was appointed to both the All-American as well as in the selection of the Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference.

NFL Career

The New York Giants committed Shiancoe in the third round as 91 players in the NFL Draft 2003. For the Giants, he played four seasons long, mainly as a backup behind Jeremy Shockey. In this he was caught on 35 balls for 253 yards and scored three touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings Visanthe Shiancoe committed in the spring of 2007. During the 2008 season, he scored seven touchdowns and was the most efficient Tight End of the NFC. In the summer of 2012, he spent a year with the New England Patriots. The Patriots did not renew his contract, which Shiancoe to Free Agent.
