Vischer family of Nuremberg

The Vischer family was a family of artists in Nuremberg, which has become known for her casting work.

Hermann Vischer the Elder founded in 1453 as a citizen of Nuremberg Gießhütte. The artist's family Vischer the son of Peter Vischer the Elder is one with his sons Hermann, Hans and Peter. The family worked for over three generations to the mid-16th century.

They made numerous metal tombs for famous personalities, including the prince-bishops of Bamberg and Würzburg and local canons. Other clients were the Counts of Henneberg. Work for the Schaumberg are, inter alia, to in Lichtenfels. Among the mapped related persons or ecclesiastical dignitaries include family members of the Seckendorf, Giech, Foertsch of Thurnau, Redwitz, Bibra and Guttenberg. In Krakow tombs were created in the Wawel Cathedral and St. Mary's Church.
