Vistonida was a municipality in the northeastern Greek prefecture of Xanthi on the same lake. It was created in 1997 from several independent communities and integrated into the community Avdira 2010. Since then, it forms a district Avdiras.

Towns

• Genissea, 2,171 inhabitants, former seat of the municipal administration, with a thermal pool, a gymnasium, the ruins of Vergepolis from classical, Hellenistic and Roman times, the village Vafeika, 708 inhabitants and the settlement Athinganochori;

• Diomidia, 4,418 inhabitants, with an industrial area and the villages and settlements Afxediou (266 inhabitants), Feloni ( 599 inhabitants), Neos Zygos (397 inhabitants), Paleo Katrami (631 inhabitants), Alea Zygos ( 663 inhabitants), Petinos ( 1,116 inhabitants),

• Koutso, 750 inhabitants, with Sydini ( 356 On2. )

• Magiko, 850 inhabitants, formerly re-established a Turkish village called Kotza Machmoutlou 1922 after the Asia Minor catastrophe, with the Islamic Alkyoni village (242 inhabitants),

• Pigadia, 505 inhabitants,

• Polyssito, 400 inhabitants, known for boisterous celebrations on Shrove Tuesday;

• Selino, 290 inhabitants,

• Sounio, 987 inhabitants.
