Vivian Nutton

Vivian Nutton ( * 1943 ) is a British medical historian and professor at the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at University College London.

Nutton earned a B. A. in Classical Philology 1965 at Selwyn College, Cambridge, where he was then engaged in teaching. The Ph.D. he received in 1970. since 1977 he has worked at the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine, first as a lecturer, since 1993 as a professor. He is member of several international learned societies.

Nuttons main area of ​​the Greek physician Galen. In addition, his works span the entire history of ancient medicine and their effect history, particularly during the Renaissance and in the Muslim world.
