Viviers-du-Lac
Viviers -du -Lac is a municipality in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.
Geography
Viviers- du- Lac is located at 262 m above sea level. M., near Aix -les- Bains, about nine kilometers north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the Savoie département, in the foothills at the western foot of Mont Revard, on a ridge southeast of the Lac du Bourget.
The area of 3.94 square kilometers of the communal territory (without Seeanteil ) includes a section on the southeast shore of Lac du Bourget. The lake shore line is about a mile and is mostly flat pronounced. From the shores of the lake community area extends eastwards across the flat riparian strips on the ridge of Viviers, which is oriented parallel to the Lac du Bourget in north-south direction. On the ridge above Voglans is 389 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Viviers -du -Lac. In the east the border along the creek Tillet, which is channeled over long distances runs.
At Viviers -du -Lac, the settlement Le Viviers- Plage ( 235 m above sea level. M. ) is on the shores of Lac du Bourget. Neighboring communities of Viviers -du -Lac are Tresserve in the north, Drumettaz Clara Fund and Méry East, Sonnaz and Voglans in the south and Le Bourget -du -Lac in the West.
History
The territory of Viviers -du -Lac was already inhabited during the Roman period, which could be detected on the basis of wall foundations, ceramic fragments and inscriptions. The place name derives from the French word vivier (fish pond). Viviers -du -Lac was in the Middle Ages belonged to the reign of Aix. In 1956 the Municipality of Le Viviers in Viviers -du- Lac has been renamed.
Attractions
The parish church of Viviers -du -Lac was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.
Population
With 2088 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Viviers- du- Lac is one of the smaller communities of the department of Savoie. Since the early 1960s, a striking increase in population was recorded thanks to the attractive residential area. Since then, the population has nearly tripled.
Economy and infrastructure
Viviers -du -Lac was to the 20th century, a predominantly coined by agriculture and fishing village. In addition, there are now several companies of small and medium enterprises. Industrial zones with service companies and local shops sprang up along the main road south of the Lac du Bourget in the valley. Meanwhile, the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage mainly in the area of Aix -les -Bains and Chambery their work.
The village has a good infrastructure. It is located above the main road N201 that runs from Chambery along the eastern shore of Lac du Bourget in Aix -les- Bains. Further road links exist with Drumettaz Clara Fund, Méry, Voglans and Le Bourget -du -Lac. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of about three kilometers. Viviers -du -Lac has a station on the railway line Culoz - Modane.
