Vivir la utopía

The utopia of life, alternatively Utopia live! Anarchism in Spain ( in the original Vivir la utopía El anarquismo en Espana ), is a directed by Juan Gamero produced in 1997 for the station TVE documentation. The work deals with the anarchist and anarcho -syndicalist movements from 1840 and during the Spanish Civil War 1936-1939. They dealt more specifically with the area of everyday life and the collective self-government and tried to show the radical changes that emerged in these years.

The film consists primarily of interviews with thirty anarchists who talk about their experiences during this time, with the individual interviews, separated by short film sequences, generally material from the time of the Civil War.

The documentation here assumes a largely pro- anarchist stance and points to their opinion, constructive role of the anarchists in the organization of the resistance against Franco and life in general after the coup.

The interviewees included: Miguel Alba, Ramon Alvarez, Frederico Arcos, Marcelino Bailo, Maria Batet, Severio Campos, Francisco Carrasquer, Miguel Celma, Valerio Chiné; Jose Espana, Jose Fortea, Juan Giménez, Antonio Lahuerta, Concha Liano, Fidel Miró, Aurora Molina, Molina Heleno, Conxa Pérez, Suceso Portales, Dolores Prat, Ximo Queirol, Maravilla Rodríguez, Juan Romero, Manuel Sanz, Liberto Sarrau, José Sauces José Serra Estruch, Antonio Turon, José Urzáiz, Antonio Zapata.

In addition to the anarchists come Miguel Primo de Rivera and his son José Antonio through historical photographs to speak.

Production

The documentary was produced in the studios of the Fundación de Estudios Libertarios Anselmo Lorenzo ( FAL). For several months, a team through Spain and parts of France to conduct the interviews. The music is by flamenco singers El Cabrero and Paco del Gastor.
