Vizontele is a Turkish film from the year 2001. He plays in 1974 in a sleepy eastern Anatolian city. In this city a lot, with the arrival of the first TV changes. The sequel to the hit film is Vizontele Tuuba.

Action

In a small village in the district Gevaş the province of Van, slumbers around 1974 around the life and time seems to stand still. People walk especially with great passion to the cinema and its apparent isolation from the rest of the world seems to disturb them in any way. When suddenly a TV, a wondrous " radio with pictures " from Ankara arrives, this is the village on the head and mayor Nazmi sees his big chance. So his business the only cinema owner is threatened by television in place.

The mayor instructed Deli Emin, who has the only clue about technology and electronics to bring the TV up and running. This calls the device instead Televizyon ( Turkish for TV ) Vizontele. Several attempts such as the ascent of a mountain in order to get a better signal fail. In the end though the television is by accident though, and the Mayor invites the people of the village a premiere. Unfortunately, it is reported in the news about the invasion of the Turkish army in Cyprus, a son of the mayor, who had recently gone before military service, died. Thus, the television brought a misfortune message. The wife of the mayor can be buried by Deli Emin at the end of the TV.

Background

Vizontele appeared on 2 February 2001 in the cinemas of Turkey. The director and author Yilmaz Erdogan processed in this film, the memories of his childhood, which he spent in the seventies in the Turkish village of Hakkari. Unexpectedly, the film was a box office hit in Turkey. In the German theatrical release from 27th September 2001, shown in original version with subtitles.

Criticism

Janis El- Bira wrote on Filmzentrale.de: Yılmaz Erdoğan has succeeded with Vizontele a very successful debut, which one should prove to be for the European and Asian small space open cinema Freak: serene times. It is hoped that this work also marked the start of international repute for the talented director is!
