VL Viima
The VL Viima was a trainer aircraft of the Finnish manufacturer Valtion lentokonetehdas.
History and construction
The Viima was a two-seat trainer aircraft of the Finnish Air Force. The designed as a biplane machine had successively arranged seats in an open cockpit and was covered with fabric. The elevator was designed conventionally. In addition, the aircraft had a non- retractable spur wheel landing gear and was powered by a Siemens - Halske Sh 14 radial engine.
20 Viimas were delivered to the Finnish Air Force and used until the late 1940s; thereafter, at least 14 specimens were used for civilian purposes, where several were equipped with an enclosed cockpit.
