Vladas Jurgutis

Vlada Jurgutis ( born November 5, 1885 in Joskaudai, Palanga region, province of Courland, Russia, † January 9, 1966 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian Catholic priest and politician.

Biography

In 1902 he graduated from the Progymnasium Palanga, 1906, studied at the seminary Kaunas, 1910, the Master of Theology degree at the Theological Academy Petersburg. From 1910 to 1913 he studied economics at the University of Munich. From 1918 he was a prefect at the seminary Kaunas and from 1918 to 1922 professor.

In the 7th Government of Lithuania, led by Ernestas Galvanauskas, Jurgutis 1922 was Foreign Minister of Lithuania and Member of the Seimas. From 1922 to 1929 he was head of the Lietuvos Bankas. From 1925 he taught at the University of Lithuania, from 1940 at the Faculty of Economics, Vilnius University, Dean.
