Vladimir Bure

Vladimir Valeryevich Bure (Russian: Владимир Валерьевич Буре; born December 4, 1950 in Norilsk ) is a Russian former swimmer and won numerous medals at Olympic Games, World and European Championships over the short distance freestyle.

Vladimir Bure won the bronze medal over 100 m freestyle at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. At the European Championships in Vienna in 1974, he started the 100m freestyle as a favorite, but was defeated by the German Peter gossamer cam to a hundredth of a second. In the subsequent European Championships 1977 in Jönköping it failed the longed for revenge and he had about the same distance again defeated, this time clearly the superior cam.

Vladimir Bure is the father of two hockey players Pavel Bure and Valeri Bure.
