Vladimír Labant

Vladimír Labant ( born June 8, 1974 in Čadca ) is a Slovak football player at the position of a defender.

Labant began his career in the Slovak first division MŠK Žilina, before he moved to league rivals Dukla Banská Bystrica in 1993. After 22 operations in the Slovak league Corgoň the young defender moved back to Žilina. After just one season moved Vladimír Labant in 1995 to 1 FC Kosice. Also he left this club after a year and returned to his old club Dukla Banská Bystrica for a year.

In 1997, the defenders finally moved abroad - to Slavia Prague. Here the soccer player quickly pulled the attention of other European football clubs up and was eventually recruited by Slavia's city rivals Sparta Prague in 1999. In the Czech Gambrinus League Vladimír Labant celebrated with these two teams his first big success. With Slavia Prague 1997 he won the Czech Cup competition, with Sparta Prague he was two times Czech champion and played in the UEFA Champions League. During this time he was also " Footballer of the Year in Slovakia " was selected in 2000.

In January 2002, it was bought by the English first division Vladimír Labant West Ham United. Vladimír Labant, however, had to contend with injuries and played only seven games for the club before he the same year went back to Prague at Sparta. Here he was in 2003 for the third time Czech champion, but also had injuries - he broke his ankle in training - to fight. In 2005 Vladimír Labant finally came the first time to Austria to VfB Admira Wacker Mödling and moved to end of the season to the Austrian giants Rapid Vienna, where he stood until January 5, 2006, under the contract. With the onset of spring season Labant moved to Spartak Trnava.

Vladimír Labant debuted in March 1999 in the qualifying match for Euro 2000 against Romania in the Slovak national team. In the following years he had, however, numerous international appearances for Slovakia, especially in the qualifications for the 2002 World Cup and the European Championship in 2004. Since March 2004 was not followed by other meetings more to the national team.
