Vladimir Makhnutin

Vladimir Vladimirovich Machnutin (Russian: Владимир Владимирович Махнутин; born October 28, 1987 in Tschussowoi ) is a Russian luger.

Vladimir Machnutin began in 1997 with the luge, where he competes with his partner Vladislav Juschakow in doubles. Initial successes reached the duo at junior level; there at a Junior World Cup in Lillehammer in December 2005, he managed to jump on the podium. In the World Cup of adults in the Machnutin and Juschakow since the season 2006/ 07, they did not repeat this triumph. But they were right off the bat with results between the tenth and 20th place regularly for the upper middle and presented at the same time behind Mikhail Kuzmich and Stanislav Mikheyev the second best Russian double. Therefore Machnutin and Juschakow were nominated to all European and World Championships since 2007, where they confirmed their performance in the World Cup.

With another solid performance in the Luge World Cup 2009/10 - best results were here two ranks twelfth - to Machnutin and Juschakow qualified for the first time for the Olympic Winter Games, held in Vancouver in 2010. In training for the competition on the Whistler Sliding Centre, the double came to fall. The accident remained without consequences, so that the double could compete in the Olympic competition and reached there as the best Russian team ranked tenth. In the Luge World Cup 2012 in Altenberg, he won the silver medal in the team relay.
