Vladimir Myshkin

Vladimir Semenovich Myshkin (Russian: Владимир Семёнович Мышкин; born June 19, 1955 in Kirovo - Tschepezk ) is a retired Russian professional ice hockey goaltender and goalkeeper of the Soviet national ice hockey team in the 1970s and 1980s.

Career

Born in Kirovo - Tschepezk in the former Russian SFSR Myshkin was one of the few Jewish players in the Soviet team and back-up goalie and thus in constant shadow of the towering Vladislav Tretiak. Nevertheless, he gained international prominence at two events:

  • On February 11, 1979 surprised coach Viktor Tikhonov to bring all with his decision Myshkin at the Challenge Cup against the National Hockey League All-Stars on the grid. This thanked with a shutout in a 6-0 victory of his team.
