Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko

Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovich -Danchenko (Russian: Владимир Иванович Немирович - Данченко, scientific transliteration Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovič - Dančenko; * 11.jul / December 23 1858greg in Osurgeti, .. † April 25, 1943 in Moscow) was a Russian playwright and theater director. As one of the first, he received the title of People's Artist of the USSR.

Life

Nemirovich -Danchenko first attended a grammar school in Tbilisi and studied at the mathematical faculty of Moscow University later. He wrote articles for magazines humorous, was theater critic and newspaper editor.

Together with Konstantin Stanislavsky Nemirovich - Danchenko, founded in 1897, the Moscow Art Theater ( MCHAT ) and chaired several of its departments, including the musical. It later became an independent Nemirovich -Danchenko Music Theatre. On April 25, 1943, he died of a heart attack.
