Vladimir Sobolev (diplomat)

Sobolev Vladimir Mikhailovich (Russian: Владимир Михайлович Соболев; born October 1, 1924 in Samara, Novosibirsk Oblast, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, † June 23, 2010 in Moscow) was a Soviet ambassador.

Biography

Between 1942 and 1945 he served as a soldier in the Red Army on the 1st Belorussian Front

After the end of the Second World War he was in 1945 full-time functionary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ( CPSU ) in the Novosibirsk Oblast. First, he was first secretary of the Komsomol youth organization in the city Barabinsk and then after visiting the Komsomol first secretary of the Komsomol School in Novosibirsk Oblast from 1950 to 1958. According to the termination of the Party School of the Communist Party in 1958, he was first secretary of the CPSU Iskitim the city and then from 1960 to 1960 secretary of the CPSU in the Novosibirsk Oblast.

After completion of the Diplomatic Academy of the Foreign Ministry ( Высшую дипломатическую школу МИД СССР ), he joined the diplomatic service in 1964 and was for a use in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1965-1968 Counsellor at first and then to 1969, Ambassador to Algeria. Then he was again active in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 1969-1971 Deputy Head of Department for Africa.

After that was 1971-1975 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR in Belgium.

After use as Deputy Head of the Department of Scandinavia in the Foreign Ministry he was last from 1979 until his retirement in 1988 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USSR in Finland.

For his service he was awarded several times and received, among others, the Order of the Great Patriotic War, twice the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Red Banner, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, and the decorations of the Soviet Union. In addition, the Order of the Lion of Finland awarded him.
