Vladimir Wiese

Professor Vladimir Yulievich meadow (Russian: Владимир Юльевич Визе, scientific transliteration Vladimir Jul'evič vice; * 21 Februarjul / 5 March 1886greg in Tsarskoye Selo, .. † February 19, 1954 in Leningrad ) was a Russian- Soviet oceanographer, geographer, meteorologist and Arctic explorer of German origin.

He took from 1912 to 1914 at the Arctic expedition of Georgy Sedov on the ship St. Foka part. In 1928, he headed the Soviet Suchexpedtion after crashed on the flight to the North Pole Italian airship Italia. In the years 1930, 1932 and 1934 meadow was scientific director of expeditions to explore the Northern Sea Route. On the journey of 1930 he discovered an island, which was named after him, the meadow Island. In 1932 he defeated the Georgi Sedov was the first to Northern Sea Route in one navigation period.

He is also considered a founder of scientific Eisprognose for Arctic marine shipping and published numerous scientific papers.
