Vlastimil Petržela

Vlastimil Petržela ( born July 20, 1953 in Prostějov, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak football player and current football coach.

Playing career

The two-time Czechoslovak national team began his career at Sokol Kraslice na Hané, later he played for TJ OP Prostějov. For the season 1974/75 he undertook Zbrojovka Brno. From 1976 to 1978, the striker for Železárny Prostějov plays from 1978 to 1980 for Sigma Olomouc. His army service, he graduated from 1980-1981 at RH Cheb. Then played " Burda " as Petržela was called for Slavia Prague. Without international game experience, he was nominated in 1982 for the World Cup in Spain, on 17 June 1982, he made ​​his debut as a substitute in the World Cup group game against Kuwait in the Czechoslovak national team. On March 7, 1983 in a 1-1 draw in Cyprus Petržela had his second and last use in the national team, this time he played more than 90 minutes. In 1985, he ended due to injury problems, with only 32 years of his career, even if he ran aground a few times for the club unterklassigen TJ Cholupice.

Coaching career

Vlastimil Petržela began his coaching career in the 1986/87 season as an assistant at Slavia Prague. On 12 Matchday he took over the office of the head coach, but returned 1987/88 back to the assistant post. In the spring of 1990, he got another chance to show his qualities as head coach to the test, but had little success. The team slid off anyway disappointing eighth place to tenth. Nevertheless, he continued to receive the trust. 1990/91 the team finished ninth, 1991/92 in fourth. 1992/93 he was discharged after 7 game day, the team had won up to that point only three times.

1993/94 he became coach of Slovan Liberec, in the first season under Petržela Liberec was ninth, 1994/95 in fourth. In early 1996, signed him Sparta Prague, where he had, however, no success. After the 5th Round in 1996/97 he was released.

Gameday On the 12th of the season, he took over local rivals Bohemians Prague, but the descent into the second league was unable to prevent. 1997/98 Bohemians was only third in the second league and missed the revival. The club yet held firmly to Petržela, the team finished the 1998/99 season the first place and went on. According to a seventh (1999/2000) and an eighth place (2000/ 01) and Bohemians Petržela separated after 27 Matchday 2001/ 02 due to internal difficulties, although the team was on a fourth.

For the season 2002/ 03 Petržela took over the then second division club FK Mladá Boleslav.

In early 2003 he accepted an offer from Zenit St. Petersburg, where he spent three and a half successful years. In his first year he led Zenit to the Russian vice-championship, 2004 was the team's fourth, sixth in 2005. 2006 reached the zenith the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in May 2006, he was dismissed after he rejected with the new owners, and even some players had against him.

End of August 2006 took over as coach Petržela at Sigma Olomouc, season after he was released. In August 2007, he became coach of Neftchi Baku. After only four months, he was released in January 2007.

In the 2009/10 season Petržela worked as manager of the Association of Czech 2nd league FK Viktoria Zizkov from the capital Prague and in the following 2010/11 waiting for him the effect of the Slovak MFK Zemplín Michalovce.
