Vlčtejn

Vlčtejn ( German Wildenstein ) is a municipality with a population of 98 in the Czech Republic. It is 5 km northwest of the city and belongs to the Blovice Okres Plzeň- jih to.

Geography

Vlčtejn is located 520 m above sea level. M. on the homonymous hill crowned by the ruins of the castle Vlčtejn left side above the valley of Úslava. Neighboring towns are Chouzovy and Želčany in the north, to the southeast and Zdemyslice Chlum in the southwest. To the west of the village is affected by the state road 20.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1284 and was built under the castle Vlčtejn, which was rebuilt in the 14th century in Gothic style. The place was repeatedly the scene of hostilities, as in 1421 the Hussites occupied the castle led by Jan Zizka.

1450 took place at the castle of a peace agreement between the defeated Strakonice Union under Ulrich von Rosenberg and Kalixtinern under Georg von Podiebrad. In the 16th century they took over the men of Ruppau ( Czech Roupova z ). 1611 lived Christoph Harant of Polschitz and Weseritz at the castle, which was abandoned and fell thereafter.
