Vlkov (České Budějovice District)

Vlkov ( German Wilkow, formerly Wlkow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers north of Ceske Budejovice in South Bohemia České Budějovice and belongs to the.

Geography

Vlkov located in a clearing surrounded by beautiful forests Nová obora on the Lischauer threshold on the right side above the valley of the brook Kozlovský creek. Southeast of the Baba stands (570 m) in the southwest of Cirhanský vrch ( 557 m) and the Kameniště ( 565 m).

Neighboring towns are Němčice, Budáček, Pořežany and Tuchonice in the north, Radonice, U Petra and Drahotěšice in the northeast, Gebrovna, Švamberk, Na Jednotě, U Prokšů and Mazelov in the east, Ševětín and Vitin the southeast, Na Libochové, U nádrazí and Chotýčany in the south, Cirhan and Dobřejovice in the southwest, and Poněšice Chlumec in the west and Purkarec, Líšnice and Hroznějovice in the northwest.

History

The first mention of the village belonging to Froburg Wlkow was made in 1443 in connection with the brothers of Wlkow and Šewětín ( bratřie z Wlkowa jdúc ze Šewětína ). Among the owners were, inter alia, the Lords of Pernštejna, Neuhaus and Malovci Malovic. According to financial speculation and participation in the uprising of 1618, the goods of Malovci Malovic were confiscated and handed over to the government in 1623 by Baltasar Marradas who had it re-catholicize. 1661 sold the Marradas of the reign of the Prince Schwarzenberg. In 1840 Wlkow consisted of 9 houses with 79 inhabitants. In the village there was a tavern. Vicarage was Schewetin. Until the mid- 19th century, the village always the rule Fraunberg remained submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vlkov / Wlkow formed in 1850 a part of the community Dobřejovice in the District Commission Budějovice / Budweis. 1910 lived in the village 126 Czech -speaking inhabitants. 1923 Vlkov broke loose from Dobřejovice and formed its own community. On 14 July 1964, the annexation took place after Drahotěšice and together with it the village was incorporated on 1 July 1975 at Ševětín. After a referendum sparked Vlkov November 24 again in 1990 by Ševětín going on. Vlkov part with 31 inhabitants ( 1 January 2012) to the municipalities with the smallest population in the Czech Republic.
