Vlkov (Žďár nad Sázavou District)

Vlkov ( German Wlkau, also Wilkau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers north of Velka Bites and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Vlkov located in Krischanauer Bergland ( Křižanovská Highlands ) in the south of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands on the northwestern shore of the creek fed by Bily pond Vlkovský fishpond. South-west rises the Duforty ( Düfort, 561 m). In the West State Road 37 between Křižanov and Velka Bíteš runs past the village. North of the village, the railway line runs from Brno to Zdar nad Sázavou. The station Vlkov u Tišnova lies to the east out of the village in the industrial area. To the southeast is the Radostínwald.

Neighboring towns are Osová and Březí in the north, Březské in the northeast, Křižínkov in the east, and Krovi Radostínský Mlýn in the southeast, Velka Bites, Kevlický Dvůr, Nové Sady and Bezděkov in the south, Jáchymov and Záblatí in the southwest and Osová Bítýška in the West.

History

The first written mention of the castle belonging to the village Ossowa Wylkov place in the year 1349. The town's name derives from the wolf. During this time, mining was carried out in the area and there arose settlements of German miners.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vlkov formed a part of the community Osová Bítýška in the District team Velké Meziříčí. 1865 was shot at Vlkov the last wolf in Radostinwald. In 1874 Vlkov formed its own community. In 1949 the congregation to Okres Velka Bites, and at the beginning of the year 1961, she was assigned to the Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

The original character of the village street has been preserved until today. Together with Březské, Krovi, Níhov, Osová Bítýška, Velka Bites and Záblatí Vlkov is a member of a municipal forest cooperative that manages 680 ha of forests. Since 2005, the municipality performs a coat of arms and banner that a silver rust, as a symbol of St.. Lawrence and a lime leaf shows on blue- white background.

Attractions

  • Castle Osová in Osová, the castle was built at the end of the 17th century on the site of a proven since 1348 and spent 1638 Wasserburg. It is located on the banks of the pond Okolník. To the west of the castle lies the 1835 -based castle park. The castle is currently not accessible.
  • Gallery Sýpka, the north of the village in a baroque memory of the castle Osová from 1669 decorated gallery was founded in 1990 and is open from May to September.
  • Vlkovský pond fishpond, the big fish pond was created in 1526 as the last of the Ossowaer pond system during the reign of the brothers Smil and Jan Osovsky of Doubravice by Stepan Netolický
