Vodice, Slovenia

Vodice ( German Woditz, older Gertrud Forest) is a municipality in the Lower Carniola region of Slovenia.

Location and population

In the overall community consisting of 16 villages 4,384 people live. The main town of Vodice has 1216 inhabitants and is situated at an altitude of 339 m. The municipality is located north of Ljubljana.

Attractions

The parish church of Sv. Marjeta was first documented in 1118. It is surrounded by a wall, to protect them from the attacks of the Ottomans. When severe earthquakes in space Ljubljana from 1895 it was heavily damaged, but rebuilt.

The current church was founded in 1995.
