VoIP VPN

With VoVPN (Voice over VPN) can be a VoIP connection tunneled through a VPN network. This is useful if an encryption of VoIP traffic is to be achieved, for example, if a public network like the Internet is used for transmission. It is significantly more difficult for an attacker to eavesdrop on the conversation.

Developed VoVPN mainly because the protocols previously used as RTP do not support encryption. However, it does not constitute a separate protocol, but merely describes a method for embedding VoIP streams in the VPN protocol.

The quality of the VoIP connection can be improved by a tunneling using SSL -based VPN.
