Vojany

Vojany ( until 1948 slovak " Vajany "; Hungarian Vaján ) is a municipality in the south-eastern Slovakia. It is located in the East Slovak Lowland by the river Laborec, 6 km from Veľké Kapušany and 26 km from Michalovce.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1323. Until 1918 it belonged to the county Ung the Kingdom of Hungary, came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia, but was due to the First Vienna Award from 1938 to 1945 again part of Hungary. Since then, the church is a part of Czechoslovakia since 1993 or Slovakia. The coal power plants Vojany I and II Vojany are in the vicinity of the location. On the community site there is also an alternative place of broad gauge track Uzhgorod - Košice.
