The hydropower plant Volgograd is a 1951 put into use hydroelectric power plant on the Volga in Volgograd. It has a capacity of 2592.5 MW about twice the power of an average German nuclear power plant. For the transmission of the electricity generated in the power plant was first applied the technique of high-voltage direct -current transmission in Russia, where the converter station is located on the dam. The generator transformers of eight generators also serve as converter transformers. The line is operated at a voltage of 800 kV.

The hydropower plant is at the Volgograd reservoir.
