Völkersweiler

Völkersweiler ( pfälz. Velkerswoiler ) is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Annweiler am Trifels.

Geographical location

The place is located in the valley between Gossersweiler Annweiler am Trifels and Bad Bergzabern. Situated in the midst of mixed forests place is described as a good starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the area.

History

The place Völkersweiler belonged to the late 18th century to Electoral Palatinate. After taking the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) Völkersweiler 1798-1814 was assigned to the Canton Annweiler in the department of Thunder Mountain and was managed by the Mairie in Swan home. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the Palatinate, and thus the community Völkersweiler had initially been assigned to Austria. In a 1816 closed treaty Austria ceded the region to the Kingdom of Bavaria from. The Bavarian State Annweiler now belonged to the newly created Rheinkreis provisionally nor to the District Two bridges formed from the previous district and came on August 1, 1816 District Landau. After the breakdown of districts in country police stations (1818 ) Völkersweiler belonged to the country 's Commissariat Bergzabern, from 1939, the district was Bergzabern.

The local council in Völkersweiler consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The coat of arms description reads: "Under a red shield head, in two floating silver crosses, on green Dreienberg a sandstone red Romanesque church with an octagonal apse, transept and tower with golden cross, with silver tracery windows, beseitet in silver right of a green leaf, on the left of a green ear ".
